If this gorgeous video doesn’t have you reaching for a hankie and a fortifying cup of tea to ward off the feels and sniffles, we don’t know what will!
The very first hello
It’s hard to imagine just how you’ll truly feel when you hold your newborn baby in your arms for the very first time.
Not only are mums exhausted from the hard work they’ve done to deliver their beautiful baby into the world, they’re dealing with all kinds of physical symptoms as a result of the birth.
Amazingly, all the fatigue and painful feels slip away for a little while, in the moment that a mama first claps eyes on her tiny human for the very first time. This ridiculously beautiful meeting is made even more special when that little person opens their eyes and peers at their mother for the first time ever. Cue tears, wailing, sobs and impassioned vows to protect said tiny boy or girl at all costs.
In honor of mothers around the world, Birth Becomes Her compiled these authentic and powerful moments of women meeting their babies for the very first time. No matter where you give birth or how you welcome your baby into your life, your story is beautiful. Tag a mother or a woman you love. We're all in this together. Viewed over 44 million times (at time of publication) the clip shares snippets of a number of mums emotionally clapping eyes on – and cuddling – their babies for the very first time.
It’s near impossible to view the footage without tearing up and it really reminds us of the superhuman effort women make to ensure these tiny kiddos are welcomed into the world surrounded by love.

Whether babies arrive via c-section, vaginal birth, with intervention or without, this footage makes it clear that all mums share the same feelings of delight – and overwhelm – when they finally get to hold their baby in their arms. Tears all ’round – from the mums in question – and from us!
Watch it and (happy) weep! Well done amazing mums!
