Want your child to be a billionaire? You may want to give them one of these names…

When it comes to the great baby name hunt, the struggle is real. So we thought we’d throw another consideration into the mix: do you want your child to be successful? Like, astronomically, financially successful? Then you may want to peruse the names of the world’s richest folk…

If you’re ever keen to give yourself a financial reality check, it’s always wise to scan through Forbes list of the world’s billionaires. If nothing else, you’ll get some great baby name inspiration!

Just 27 Australians make it on the world’s billionaires list, and incredibly, none of them share the same name, although we could argue that Michael and Mike are close enough!

  1. Gina
  2. Harry
  3. James
  4. Frank
  5. John
  6. Anthony
  7. Kerr
  8. Lindsay
  9. Vivek
  10. Andrew
  11. Fiona
  12. David
  13. Michael

  21. Robert
  22. Kerry
  23. Mike
  24. Scott

But that’s not the case in the UK, where there are eight names repeated among its 60 billionaires.

  1. David
  2. Michael
  3. Richard
  4. John
  5. James
  6. Ian
  7. Charles
  8. Mark

Four of these: David, Michael, John and James also appear in the Australian list – and of these, three are listed in the five most common names among billionaires. So here it is folks (with tongue firmly in cheek), we give you the definitive list of what to call your child if you want them to become a billionaire:

  1. Robert
  2. Wang
  3. Michael
  4. David
  5. John

Notably, female names are few and far between when it comes to these lists; they make up just 11 per cent of the world’s billionaires.
