Viva Las Vegas!

Vegas may not be the first spot that comes to mind if you’re thinking about a US family holiday. But look past the glitter, the glamour and the nightlife and Las Vegas is a great starting point for lots of fantastic sights.

There are dozens of exciting things to see and do in and around Las Vegas that are suitable for families – obviously a visit to the Grand Canyon (by helicopter, bus, boat or horse) and Hoover Dam are big attractions but there’s also tours of Death Valley, the sparkling lights of the Strip, shows such as KÀ by Cirque du Soleil and the Comedy Pet Theatre, horse riding Wild West style, river rafting, Zion National Park and the incredibly beautiful Neon Museum & Neon Graveyard (below) – word of advice, book your visit to the Museum well in advance.

As much as you may be looking forward to visiting Vegas in all its gaudy glory, staying on the Strip in a large hotel complete with a casino and nightclubs might not be what you have in mind for a family stay. Which is why Loews Lake Las Vegas is a haven for families.

Loews Lake Las Vegas is located just twenty minutes from the Strip and offers luxurious accommodation, a kids club and plenty of activities (or opportunities to relax) for parents.

Loews looks after its littlest guests with lending libraries of games, special children’s menus with healthy options, tours, Fisher-Price welcome gifts, ‘kidbanas’ by the pool and more.

In addition, there’s Kids Camp, a day of adventure that is sure to be a holiday highlight – nature hikes, scavenger hunts or hooking a fish is all part of the fun. And for some indoor entertainment there’s SushiSKool where Master Sushi Chef, ‘Fuji’, teaches minnows all about the art of sushi.

For family leisure time, the hotel offers access to the best Nevada boating, fishing, swimming and kayaking. White Sand Beach borders Lake Las Vegas so guests can enjoy endless water sports at the doorstep of the hotel.

Bookings can be made online directly with Loews – don’t forget to check out the special packages. I like the sound of the Family Fun package which includes S’mores on the beach – yum! Book your flights to the US online through Flight Centre.
