Can you believe we’re already into the second month of 2015? And what a cracking year it’s been so far. We’ve certainly had plenty to talk about – here’s what hit the headlines in January.
Many parents-to-be agonise over baby names for months before their little one makes their grand arrival. So it’s no surprise that not one, but two, posts about baby names were among our top five stories last month.
BabyCenter released its list of top 50 names given to Australian boys and girls last year. Oliver and Ava topped the charts, but check out the month’s number one post to see which other names made the list. Another story about names rounded out the top five – this time NameBerry wound back the clock 100 years to find out the top newborn names of 1915. You might be surprised how many are back in fashion a century later!
Our second and third most-popular posts in January were about child safety – a hidden home danger every parent should know about, and a clever new star-studded video that shows how to stop a baby choking. Read our post about what happened to two children who swallowed button batteries and I swear, you will resolve to lock up the potentially dangerous coin cells in something resembling Fort Knox.
Finally, the other post you loved most last month was the birth announcement we’ve all been waiting for. After possibly the world’s most stylish pregnancy, Gossip Girl star Blake Lively’s baby girl arrived just before the New Year. Her husband, Ryan Reynolds, has since scotched rumours the baby’s name is Violet – though he wasn’t forthcoming on her actual name in an interview with USA Today.
