As we slide on into September, it’s time to take a look back at what had Babyologists clicking throughout August.

From a fascinating birth video of a baby delivered still cocooned in its amniotic sac to the exciting news surrounding the arrival of celebrity chef Jamie Oliver’s fifth child, it was certainly a month to remember.

Here’s the top five news posts for August.

By far the most popular news post for the month was an amazing 30-second video of a baby born still peacefully cocooned in its amniotic sac. An amniotic birth such as this is considered extremely rare and even lucky.

The next popular post was two weeks in the making as we waited for celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and his wife Jools to reveal their new little boy’s name. We were delighted to hear little River could claim a name as sweet as his older brothers and sisters – Poppy Honey Rosie, 14, Daisy Boo Pamela, 13, Petal Blossom Rainbow, six, and Buddy Bear Maurice, five.

We aren’t sure how many keyboards may have been broken clicking on this next post because, while it may have been an unpopular finding among mums, a study made the bold claim dads are more sleep-deprived than mums. Science writers and mums Tara Haelle and Emily Willingham trawled through the latest research and found overall fathers were the ones missing out on most of the shut-eye.

Before we had a name, we were thrilled to learn the newest member of the Oliver clan had arrived safely. Jamie even shared details of the birth, revealing his two eldest daughters were present when mum Jools gave birth to their new little brother.

Completing another exciting and eventful month was a post sharing the stunning birth photography of Jerusha Sutton. A Sydney doula for 10 years, Jerusha gave us a beautiful insight into the growing trend of couples seeking to capture the moments surrounding the bringing of new life into the world.
