Tim Burton’s Alice

To say that I am excited about the March 5 2010 release of Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland is an understatement; I can barely wait. I have reviewed Alice books and a divine Alice costume on Babyology before and it’s no secret I am a big Wonderland fan. I suspect that what Tim Burton has in store for us will completely rewrite perceptions of Alice.

Although originally a children’s story, Alice in Wonderland does have some rather bizarre and fanciful story lines. It is quite amazing that the same story can be told in such different ways and I’m guessing that Burton’s version will be visually unprecedented, totally incredible and a little bit dark.

The cast includes Johnny Depp as a suitably mad Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter as the fierce Red Queen, Anne Hathaway as the dreamy White Queen, Stephen Fry as the Cheshire Cat and Mia Waskiowska as Alice. There are also cameos by Burton and Bonham Carter’s children, Billy and Nell Burton.

If the trailer is a fair indication of what awaits, I may leave the kids at home for this one, for fear of frightening Red Queen dreams for weeks afterwards!

Katrina studied planning and design, did the hard yards working in a big office building and then traded it all in for a relaxing (!) life at home with four children. She now fills her time with writing, completing a degree in genetics and taxiing her children around Melbourne to their various sporting commitments (not necessarily in that order).
