This one really takes the cake!

Some of you might remember, in January I was lucky enough to attend ‘Cake Decorating 101’ with Cake Occasions.

The class ran for
6 hours on a Sunday and it was a great way to spend a day, producing such a professional-looking cake (the purple and yellow one is mine).

At the time, I made the cake just for fun and thought I would go home and dig into it with a cup of tea. Then Chris mentioned tthat he cake would last for up to 2 months in the fridge. I decided to push the boundaries and keep it until my daughter’s third birthday party, which was today. Much to my surprise (and relief!), the cake was as moist and tasty as it was the day I made it.

For those who missed the last class, Cake Decorating 101 is being held again on Sunday 22nd March from 10am-4pm. The class costs $300 which includes tuition, all tools and materials and the cake itselt. Learn how
to make chocolate ganache, how to set up a cake ready for decoration,
how to prepare the icing, including mixing colours and finally how to
cover the cake with icing and to decorate. There are only two available spots left in this class, and each class has only four students.

Christopher Chavez has more than 15 years experience as
a professional cake artist. Christopher is one of Australia’s top cake
designers and has worked with two of Sydney’s best known
decorative cake establishments – Sweet Art and Planet Cake. His
teaching style is very relaxed and he shares plenty of cake-making
secrets with the class.
