There is a huge choice of products when it comes to baby skincare. Unlike adults who primp and prime with all sorts of creams, masks, serums and gels, a baby’s needs are fairly basic – soap, nappy cream, some moisturiser or massage oil, perhaps some baby bath gel and you’re set to go.
When I spied Billie Baby, a range of baby skincare products produced by the makers of Billie Goat Soap, my first thought was how different the products looked. The ‘fresh’ packaging of the unique Billy Baby Bath Soak (see below) and the boxed soaps were very appealing. On closer inspection, I learnt more about the benefits of the Billie Baby range.
Billie Baby was developed by Leanne Faulkner, a mother whose children suffered from eczema. Leanne began researching ways to soothe irritated, young skin and found that goat’s milk, with a pH very similar to our own skin, was the perfect choice. And so began Billie Goat Soaps.
The Billie Baby range includes bars of soap, a liquid body wash and a bath soak that also contains colloidal oatmeal. It was the bath soak that grabbed my attention. A friend’s baby had terrible eczema and she was desperate for a solution. I know that at the time, she would have milked a goat and ground the oats herself if someone had told her that it would provide relief for her bub. The Billie Baby Bath Soak not only soothes irritated skin but the oatmeal helps create a protective film on baby’s skin that reduces further irritation and reddening – good news for bubs with sensitive skin.
The Billie Baby range is available through Urban Baby. The soap is $9.95 for two bars and the Bath Soak is also $9.95.
