The twelve days of Christmas – Etsy Kids style

We’re giving the Twelve Days of Christmas a very modern and handcrafted twist with lots of Etsy Kids treasures fit for the festive season.

Of course it all starts with a partridge in a pear tree – or perhaps a baby in a pear cocoon?! Find the knitting pattern for this adorable Perfect Pear Cocoon and Newborn Hat at Lillebarn for US$6.50 (available in PDF format to download).

Turtledoves or rainbow birds, either way this stunning, simple cushion is the perfect addition to the nursery. It’s available from Earthlab for US$44.

Cock-a-doodle-doo, look at what the French hens have laid! Every play kitchen needs half-a-dozen wooden eggs and these beauties come from Imagination Kids and cost US$17 for six.

The stunning felt bird mobiles at Pretty Plush are calling out for the nursery. Available in soft pastels, modern grey tones and bright colours, a mobile is a beautiful gift for a newborn. Pretty Plush’s felt bird mobiles begin at US$50.

Whether you choose the song’s golden rings or rainbow rings, toddlers love a stacking game! Apple n Amos have a gorgeous handcrafted wooden set for US$24.

File this goose away for birthday party planning in the new year – Nickel Design makes customised invitations in the instantly recognizable and much-loved style of Little Golden Books. These unique invitations feature Mother Goose, Hey Diddle Diddle and Little Bo Peep and can be personalised for birthdays, baby showers or birth announcements. A set of twenty invites costs US$45.

We know how Babyologists feel about designer chairs and while we’d all love to own an Arne Jacobsen Swan chair – or seven – they are a fraction out of most people’s price range! Which is why we like this more affordable Swan Chair, in the form of a cushion. It’s US$35 and available from StudioTree.

Milkmaids need pails and the modern party table needs cute vintage-inspired milk bottles. Find these gorgeous miniature glass bottles at Australian Etsy designer, Retro Bird Designs. Whether you’re using them for chocolate milk or pink lemonade, they make for a picture-perfect party. A set of six bottles costs $20.

Little ladies dancing need boombox leggings! Perhaps the coolest leggings we’ve come across, these black and white print beauties are US$26 from Trendy Tot.

While the ladies are dancing, the lords are leaping – or in this case, jumping rope. Find stunningly beautiful handmade skipping ropes in a rainbow of colours at Jupiter’s Child. Prices begin at US$23.

We found some terrific tin whistles on Etsy (whistles certainly have retro-charm) but the pick of the bunch was not one to play but to wear. The very cool children’s whistle t-shirt from Caustic Threads is available in a range of colours and costs US$14.

If you’re not quite ready for a real drum kit, put one on the wall. Our pick is this hip alphabet print in bright orange from Finny & Zook – prints begin at US$5.
