I am woman, hear me roar! A striking photo series is being created to demonstrate the strength of mothers who go back to work while continuing to breastfeed their babies. The images have cemented something we already knew – mothers are amazing.
Stunning portraits by Texan photographer Tara Ruby will be done to show the power of the working mother. She put a call out for mums to photograph after capturing a photo of a mother feeding her baby while dressed in her husband’s firefighting uniform. The image has struck a chord with mothers, who love that it represents that women can have it all.
“Striving hard to take portraits that teach, inspire and initiate positivity in a negative world,” says Tara.
“You can be whatever you want to be, don’t ever forget that.”
Tara is also the photographer behind the impressive military mum mass breastfeeding shot that we showed you earlier this year.
The firefighting uniform photo is the second in this latest series, with the photographer urging more women to come forward to have their photo taken. She has also captured a shot of a doctor feeding her baby, a mother and baby bond the El Paso GP has managed to juggle for six months.
It has been a long time since I did a breastfeeding photo… so I have a few lined up for this week/weekend… and true…
“It’s (the firefighter photo) another photo for what I might have to start calling the Uniformed Breastfeeding Portrait collection. I have dreamed of this photo for a long time and I am so glad that I can finally say that we have completed this portrait! Tell me the first word that comes to mind when you see this….” Tara says.
“This portrait was made to show the power of a working mother, for all mothers that might be in the firefighting career field. I created this for that purpose and that purpose only.
“I can’t wait to create more portraits for this collection.”
And we can’t wait to see them, Tara. The US photographer plans to photograph a police officer next and we’ll be sure to bring you more of her amazing images as they happen.
Tara has placed a callout for new breastfeeding mums on Facebook.
