Bunks often get overlooked when it comes to designer beds for kids, which is a shame as family homes are increasingly space challenged and bunks are often a necessity. Bunks are seriously fun for kids as well – I always remember feeling thrilled by the prospect of bunk beds in holiday houses when I was little.
Apart from looking fantastic, the new Pluunk bunk has some ingenious design features. Notably, the bunk is designed from all four sides – the upper bunk has two access points and the beds can be configured in various ways depending on the size and shape of your room. The bunks fit twin size mattresses so will accommodate a child through to adulthood.
There are other thoughtful details too. The designers have included large ‘windows’ (perfect for puppet shows) and have kept in mind that with a few blankets, bunks transform into fantastic cubby houses. The upper and lower beds can be ordered separately and additional wall panels and drawer units can be added for complete design flexibility.
The walnut and maple combination is CAN$4400, however it is also available in urban salvaged hardwood for CAN$4900. The Pluunk bunk is available from Inquisitive Kid. Contact Inquisitive Kid regarding freight to Australia.
