The minimalist approach to fairytales

I’m yo-yoing between wanting the entire collection of these clever posters to wanting just one – as a single, perfect piece in the middle of my gallery wall.

Snow White

Designer Christian Jackson has created minimalist posters of well-known children’s stories and the results are stunning. There are fifteen posters in the collection, each featuring an iconic image. Some are instantly recognisable, such as Rapunzel’s long braid and a flash of red cape in the woods for Red Riding Hood. Others are a little more obscure (and a little more clever) – my favourites are the Three Little Pigs poster, which shows a simple image of the pig’s various building materials and the Hansel & Gretel bread trail design.

Hansel and Gretel

Posters can be purchased from Imagekind and start from US$21.35. Various sizes and formats are available.

Katrina Whelen

Katrina studied planning and design, did the hard yards working in a big office building and then traded it all in for a relaxing (!) life at home with four children. She now fills her time with writing, completing a degree in genetics and taxiing her children around Melbourne to their various sporting commitments (not necessarily in that order).
