I recently stayed at The Langham Hotel in Melbourne and was completely blown away with the accommodation and services. I was there without the kids and can highly recommend it for a child-free weekend getaway or even an overnight city break if you are a local.
The Langham, Melbourne is in a terrific location on the riverside Southbank precinct and our room had stunning views of the Melbourne city skyline, the Yarra River and Federation Square. The location provides the perfect inner-city experience without being in the centre of the CBD.
The hotel has 387 rooms over twenty-five floors, and we were lucky enough to have one of the executive club rooms with the hotel’s signature Service Stylists, who were there to fulfill our every need. The service was so amazing, it was almost overwhelming. The Stylist checked with us on a daily basis to make sure we had everything we needed, had a good day and if we needed help planning the next day.
I fell in love with the Chuan Spa which was voted Favourite Hotel Spa: Australasia & the South Pacific at the Conde Nast Traveller UK Readers’ Spa Awards 2011, and the spa adjoins the sun terrace, pool and hotel’s Health Club.
I can see why the The Langham, Melbourne was voted the top hotel in Melbourne in the region of Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific in Travel & Leisure USA World’s 500 Best Hotels List for both 2011 and 2010 and is placed amongst the Top Twenty Hotels in the Oceania region in the Condé Nast Traveler US Readers Choice Awards 2010. It has my vote!
If you live in Melbourne or will be visiting in the September school holidays, the Langham is doing a children’s morning tea ‘Under the Sea’, with daily Melbourne Aquarium giveaways. From September 26, Aria will serve marine-themed treats to capture the imaginations and tastebuds of all little landlubbers weekdays between 10am and 1pm for two weeks. Ten lucky guests will also win a family pass to the Melbourne Aquarium valued at $89.50, with guests ‘fishing’ for the daily prize each day of the morning tea.
The morning tea includes shark cupcakes, starfish and clam cookies, chocolate shells and many more delicious aquatic delights. The cost is $25 per child and the chance to win one of ten family passes to the Melbourne Aquarium.
With the kids happily occupied, parents can indulge in The Langham’s signature Tiffin Afternoon Tea of classic hot fluffy scones with jam and clotted cream and delicate finger sandwiches served on a three-tiered silver stand for $39 per person. For more information or bookings visit Aria Bar.
