This has to be one of the most inventive and beautiful ways to create a piece of personalised art.Take a close look at the photo at the top of the post. It’s not just a stunning hand-drawn image of a tree – the leaves are fingerprints. And that’s where you and your family come in. The Fingerprint Tree is a new Australian company, specialising in these unique pieces.
I have a real soft-spot for anything aimed at capturing memories, particularly when those memories can be passed on to your children. The Fingerprint Tree comes with the trunk of the tree printed onto long-life archive paper, and a selection of non-toxic inks. You create the leaves using fingerprints, literally leaving your mark on the artwork.
This seems like a fabulous idea for first birthdays (I can imagine what an amazing gift this would be two decades later when the child turns twenty-one) or for christenings. Just get each guest to jot down their name and add their fingerprint, and slowly the branches will come to life. There are several tree designs to choose from, and in sizes from A4 to A1.
Prints start at $130 and can be ordered through The Fingerprint Tree, who also offer framing.
