When I was little, my mum would have a fit every time I went near our rotary fan. With blades turning and a safety grill that did nothing to protect little fingers, I can now appreciate why my mum was on high alert when the fan was in use.
What we needed was a Dyson Air Multiplier Fan. It doesn’t look like a fan – there are no blades and no grill – but by all reports this futuristic fan is super-effective.
It works by drawing air into the base of the machine, creating a jet and then forcing the air from the front and sides of the machine. The result is an uninterrupted flow of cooling air. It took Dyson’s 350-strong team of engineers and scientists to develop so, in actual fact, it’s far more complicated than I’ve just described. If you’re that way inclined you can check out the exact specifications at Dyson. But if you’re a parent like me, all you need to know is that it’s cool (in both senses of the word), without the safety concerns of standard fans.
The Air Multiplier Fan is $379 – $399 and is available from Dyson stockists.
