The Christmas experiment video that all parents need to watch

If your kids are anything like mine, then they have circled pretty much every item in the toy catalogues. They have written letters to Santa (numerous times) and they know exactly what they want from the man in red.

But what happens when children are asked what they want for Christmas from their parents, not from Santa? This touching video shows us and the answers will melt your heart.

You will need to get the tissues ready for this one.

It’s easy for children to be spoiled and overwhelmed with gifts during Christmas. But it turns out that what children want the most from their parents is something that cannot be bought in stores – quality time.

Ikea Spain has put together a heart warming video entitled The Other Letter where children are asked to write two letters – one to Santa and one to their mum and dad, telling what they want for Christmas. As expected, the kids ask Santa for video games, a piano, a guitar and a unicorn.

But, what they ask from their parents will bring a tear to your eye.

“I want us to be together one whole day.”

“I’d like it if you would have dinner with us more often.”

“I want you to tickle me and read me a story.”

Many of the parents cannot finish their letters without breaking down and it’s easy to see why. And, when the children are asked which letter they would send if they could only post one, all choose to give the letters to their parents over Santa.

As it turns out, although our children can get a little carried away at Christmas, deep down they know what’s important. And this video is a beautiful reminder for all parents just what that is.
