It may not be the first child-friendly smart tablet to hit the market, but it certainly has a price point that’s hard to resist.
From French company Archos comes the Child Pad – a device aimed at saving your precious iPad, by giving your tech-savvy kids a tablet of their very own – and it’s just $129. So here are the specs: it has a seven inch touchscreen, a 1GHz processor, 1GB of RAM and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich.
It also comes preloaded with some games, including perennial child favourite Angry Birds, and has tight parental controls. If your children love to use your smart devices for taking photos, they’ll love the fact that the Child Pad comes with a front-facing camera. From initial reports it seems to be a sturdy and solid device for little hands.
There’s no news yet on whether the Child Pad will be coming to Australia, but it’s due to begin shipping to the US at the end of the month.
