A Queensland teacher has welcomed students back to class in a super-encouraging way, penning a reassuring poem and tucking it into a first day ‘goodie bag’ for each child.
The good folk at Bowen State School shared the note on their Facebook page, and it’s captured the imagination of people across the globe.
Not only is the jaunty poem fun to read, the message behind it is one of encouragement, friendship and reassurance. And as if that wasn’t awesome enough, it was part of a welcome pack which included special first-day-of-school gifts.
It’s pretty much exactly what kids need when they find themselves back in the classroom after the summer break.
Poems and prezzies for the win!
29 000 shares and almost 2000 supportive comments later, it’s obvious that people (especially parents and teachers) are inspired and delighted by the generous and clever sentiment.
“Every child needs a teacher like this. I wish every child could receive this, no matter what Grade, to give them hope and encouragement,” one commenter wrote.
“A huge thumbs up for the year 4 teacher who did this for their students!! I wish my daughter was going to Bowen State School!!” Another posted.
It’s a movement!
Once again teachers prove just how hard-working, generous, thoughtful and dedicated to the job they are.
We suspect this kind gesture may find its way into other classrooms, ensuring other kids are able to feel as supported and valuable as this grade four bunch.
Feedback on their Facebook page points to other committed teachers doing similar things for their pupils on day one!
Maybe this is something your school is already doing? You’ve chosen wisely, if so!
