I’ve got a thing about making my kids sit down when they eat. And the same rule goes for any little friends when they visit. So when my son turned four recently, I panicked and went on a stool-buying spree so that every single one of his 28 party guests could sit down to enjoy the birthday feast.
The tricky bit wasn’t getting all those kids to sit still at the one time — you can pretty much achieve anything with chocolate cake and a giant bowl of cheezels — it was finding a place to store all those chairs when the party was over.
If only I had known about these fabulously stackable Tassen stools by Ole Petter Wullum for the terribly funky Norwegian design house Kloss. Of course, being European, these stools are not just for sitting. Or stacking. They’re designed for fun too, with the cool shape meant to conjure all sorts of imaginative play possibilities in children. So the Tassen is not just a seat, it’s a boat. And a horse. Or a car. Etcetera.
The stools are made from plywood and are covered in laminate for extra durability. They stand 30cm high — just right for little legs – and are available in eight different colours. They aren’t available in Australia yet but if you simply must have them, you can contact Kloss direct to talk price and shipping.
We also love the Puzzle Table which would be perfect in the right setting.
