Give fabulous designers and celebrities a simple white baby singlet as their blank canvas and what do you get? One-off works of art plus your chance to help raise $600,000 during Gold Week to support the Sydney Children’s Hospital.

Since it started five years ago, Gold Week has raised a substantial amount of money for the Sydney Children’s Hospital through fundraising lunches and special events. This year, luxe baby brand Marquise has enlisted the support of leading fashion designers and celebrities to custom design a white Marquise baby singlet, to be framed and auctioned in support of Gold Week.

As the designers and celebrities demonstrate, there is so much you can do with a simple white singlet. From Mimco’s extravagant feathered creation and James Gordon’s sparkly show stopper to the understated elegance of Easton Pearson’s rosettes or Yasmin Le Bon’s stylised flower, you’ll never think of singlets as plain again.

Other designers participating include Little Joe, Zimmerman, Dinosaur Designs, Fleur Wood and Camilla and Marc. Celebrities showing their support include international supermodels Cindy Crawford and Christy Turnlington and Aussie rockers Jimmy Barnes and Diesel.

The Gold Week Marquise collection is on display at Westfield, Bondi Junction, NSW until 6 June, 2010. Bid online for your favourite singlet and you could own your own little (size 00) designer piece. The online auctions end at 5pm, Thursday 3 June, 2010.

Katrina studied planning and design, did the hard yards working in a big office building and then traded it all in for a relaxing (!) life at home with four children. She now fills her time with writing, completing a degree in genetics and taxiing her children around Melbourne to their various sporting commitments (not necessarily in that order).
