My little girl learnt to walk a few weeks ago and I’ve suddenly realised that while you can get away without putting shoes on a crawling child, once up and around, that baby needs shoes!
But of course their tiny baby feet are so soft and squishy that you want to be sure you are putting them into something that feels as good as it looks. The Sweet Shoes line was designed by a Californian mother of three who had difficulty finding shoes for her sons that appealed to her. There are plenty of styles for both boys and girls but at Babyology we particularly like the unisex designs, which have a beachy feel that fits in perfectly with the Australian summer.
J-Lo, Angelina Jolie, Tori Spelling and Jessica Alba all have them for their children, if that sort of thing appeals to you. Even if it doesn’t, you’ll appreciate the workmanship – the shoes are leather but with soft soles just right for a new walker and with rubber grip for traction to help keep tumbles to a minimum.
You can pick them up locally from tinysteps, where they are currently on sale at prices starting from $25. They are definitely worth a look – after all, who knows when your little trendsetter will need a pair of metallic red Mary Janes?
