In November 2008 we introduced you to Mimi’lou, the non de plume for French artist Miriam Derville. Back then, Mimi’lou was all about wall decals – she had a lovely menagerie of lambs, kittens, paper dolls, mushrooms and hedgehogs, all drawn in a dreamy outline-sketched style. And amongst the various wall stickers now available, I think they still stand out from the pack.
Recently however, I was delighted to discover that Mimi’lou has peeled herself off the wall and entered the third dimension. Her collection now includes a range of Japanese lampshades, cushions and bags for children. I think these items are really enchanting. That rabbit with his little mushroom staring at me from his cute cushion is just too much! And I love the perfect roundness of the Japanese lampshade. It would be quite possible to get carried away with this stuff.
Sadly, there is no Australian retailer of the whole of the Mimi’lou range (although a selection of the Mimi’lou wall decals is available at Kindergallery ). But Mimi’lou will take direct orders via credit card or direct deposit. You have to order at least €60 (the lamps cost €25 and the cushions €35). Postage to Australia is €15. She will send your order within two weeks of receiving your payment.
