Winter is coming… to Darling Harbour. And while Jon Snow may not be making an appearance, there are plenty of other reasons to join in on the polar fun that is sure to delight all ages and budgets.
Darling Harbour Cool Yule 2015 is a spectacular celebration of winter, with programs running daily. Presented in partnership with the Darling Harbour Alliance, Darling Harbour Cool Yule attracts more than 26 million visitors to Darling Harbour and contributes $1.2 billion each year to the New South Wales visitor economy. That’s a lot of snow… I mean, dough.
Check out the Cool Yule Ice Rink at Darling Harbour’s Palm Grove. This open air ice-skating experience runs daily and prices start at $8, including skate-hire. If you’re not much of a skater, now is the perfect time to learn.
Or, watch the experts instead with the free Stars on Ice 15-minute shows every weekday at 12:45pm and 5:45 pm on Friday and Saturday. Prepare to be amazed by the grace and skill of champion ice-skaters, led by Winter Olympian Liz Cain.
If your kid have never experienced snow before, they will absolutely love the Cool Yule Snow Pit under the Pyrmont Bridge, where they can frolic in the frosty snow without taking a trek overseas. The price includes entry into the Australian National Maritime Museum, Amazing Antarctic Adventures, with a glow-in-the-dark treasure hunt, craft workshops and more.
Skate on over to the Harbourside Amphitheatre and check out the spectacular the Star of the Show Ferris Wheel. You will be flying high with this enchanting ride up to the sky and at only $8 a ticket, it’s a great surprise for the kiddies.
There is plenty of free frozen fun too, including the magical Frozen Forest ,made of more than 100 glistening white Christmas trees with stunning special effect lights, the Cool Iceberg floating on Cockle Bay and the nightly illuminated Giant Snowflake.
The Cool Yule Slide is another free frosty family attraction that the entire family will flip over. Operating daily until 5:30pm, the slide is free and well worth a try!
End the holidays with a bang with the free Frosty Fireworks Saturday night at 8:30pm.
