Dyson has just released its latest upright vacuum, the Dyson Small Ball, and where it’s light on weight, it’s heavy on power. At just 5.5 kilograms, this vacuum is so light, you can put vacuuming on the kids’ chore list. We’re only sort of joking.
Dyson is one of the best known names in vacuums, and with good reason. The company is constantly innovating and improving its products, most recently with the Small Ball upright vacuum (from $599), a machine that concentrates powerful engineering into a lean package.
Don’t be fooled by its size. The Small Ball has the most powerful suction of any upright vacuum on the market, and it transitions smoothly from wood floors to carpet. The vacuum works with two tiers of cyclone mechanisms that capture small particles like pollen, mould and bacteria. There’s also a version specially designed to pick up pet hair.
Its petite, round profile means it’s easily manoeuvred around the house and up stairs, making quick jobs even quicker. When you’re finished, there’s a one-click emptying feature which releases dirt neatly into the bin. Although the cable, wand and hose extend 12.9 metres, the cable and wand are retractable, making the Small Ball easy to store in tight spaces.
