There’s something to be said for traditional clean lines, beautiful fabric and veering just a little left of centre when it comes to clothes for children.
We first brought you the delicious style of Little Lief in last year’s round up of Playtime New York. Designer Illana is originally from Sydney, but now lives and works in New York – and has just released her second collection of amazing garments for children. The Little Lief brand was inspired by Illana’s two-year-old daughter, Lief, and a desire to find easily breathable pieces that weren’t onesies. Unable to find exactly what she wanted, Illana began designing her own.
These amazing images are from the Winter/Fall 2011 collection. All the clothing is made from muslin gauze and pure cotton, using low impact dyes. This collection also includes woollen hand knits, created by a women’s co-operative in Bolivia, with sizing from three months to four years.
Taking a closer look at one of the statement pieces, it’s the finer details that set this collection apart. The girl’s cape has velvet strip around the neckline, wooden buttons and welted arm openings. And for those dreaming of warmer weather, here’s a sneak peak at the Little Lief Spring/Summer 2012 collection, which has just featured at Playtime New York.
Little Lief will soon be searching for Australian stockists, so we’ll keep you up to date.
