Think you’ve got the best baby name picked out – one that is unique, adorable and off the ‘most popular’ lists? Better have a look at these rising baby names first, you know, just in case. You may find that your unique name is more popular than you think…
We can expect a lot more Ezras, Arabellas and Ashers in the labour and delivery ward.
Why? Because these names are absolutely adorable. But they are also trending faster than any other baby name out there (including the current most popular names).
Nameberry has released its annual list of rising baby names for 2016 and the results give us an interesting look into what we can expect in baby name trends. The popular baby naming website uses Google Analytics to determine the most favoured baby names and, according to Nameberry creator Pamela Satran, the results are “based on the most-visited of the nearly 20 million views of our individual name pages in the first three months of this year”.
So which names are on the rise? Here are the top twenty:
One of the most obvious trends are names starting with an A with some of the top contenders being Atticus and Asher for boys and Amelia, Ava, Arabella, Adeline and Aurora for girls.
However, names starting with a vowel in general are also highly trendy with Ezra, Oliver, Olivia, Isla and Eleanor all making the hit list as well.
Some of the other adorable contenders? Penelope and Charlotte (which makes sense considering Charlotte is the top baby name from 2015). And Milo, Silas, Levi and Declan for the next generation of little dudes.
I have to admit that most of these names would make my baby name shortlist – they are a mixture of classic, creative and cute. Want more unique and adorable baby names? Check out these ones submitted by our readers – they are seriously so sweet!
