Combine two loves of littlies, rocks and building, and you’re on to a winner. I don’t think I’ve come across a child who doesn’t like to dig their tiny fingers into any sorts of rocks, whether in the garden or just lying about while on a walk. Even my daughter, who is decidedly anti-dirt, has a thing for rocks. It must be the hunt-them-down-and-gather-them-up instinct.
Let me introduce you to Stönees, real stone building blocks made in Canada from crushed North American rocks and coloured with natural pigments. The playing possibilities are endless as the rocks can be stacked, aligned, built into a pyramid or a castle. The Stönees shapes are cylindrical, square or triangular but all retain an organic nature and each block is unique. Designed to promote motor skills in kids ages four and up, I’m sure the imagination will get a workout as well.
I’m not usually overly enthused by building blocks but when they’re made from natural ingredients in a safe, eco-conscious manner, I think that’s something to get excited about.
