OG Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants cast-member, Amber Tamblyn, has gone on the record to reveal the movie-making wheels are in motion, and the third instalment of this classic franchise could be closer than everyone thinks!
More pants please
It seems that people have been beavering away on a new magic jeans chapter for quite some time, and Amber says she hopes fans will get to see it sooner than they think.
“Amber Tamblyn confirmed a yearned for third Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants film that checks in on Tibby, Lena, Carmen, and Bridget as adults has been ‘in development for a while,'” EW reports.
“I have very high hopes for it happening sooner rather than later,” Amber continued. Um. Us toooo!

Can you see my heart bursting out of my body? I love being with my sisters especially when it's to celebrate the badassery of the pants. @amberrosetamblyn directed her stunning first film, Paint It Black, which comes out this Friday! The Sisterhood came out last night to celebrate her enormous talents. We are beyond proud and glowing for her. 👭👭👖❤️
Alexis Bledel, America Ferrera and Blake Lively star alongside Amber in the much-loved film. The foursome have been firm friends since the original release in 2005 and all have gone on to achieve pretty lofty heights – possibly due to said magical pants – since then.
In the past week, Alexis Bledel won an Emmy and Amber Tamblyn & America Ferrera wrote pieces for The NY Times. SEND THE PANTS TO BLAKE NOW!!

Alexis Bledel reprised her role as Rory Gilmore in the rebooted Gilmore Girls, then played Ofglen in the much-lauded TV version of Margaret Attwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale. She won an Emmy for the latter role.
America Ferrera and Amber Tamblyn confirmed their talents extended to writing, with both having pieces published in the New York Times recently. America – who has also won an Emmy for her work in Ugly Betty – wrote about battling her inner critic. Emmy-nominated (for Joan of Arcadia) Amber wrote about misogyny, power, actor James Wood and sexual assault. And she also had a baby in March 2017.
Blake Lively had not been resting on her laurels at all, despite some implying she has. Rather, she’s been busily making humans – daughters almost-3-year-old James and just-turned 2-year-old Ines – with Ryan Reynolds, and has won multiple Teen Choice and People’s Choice Awards for her roles in Gossip Girl and The Shallows. She’s also a vocal advocate for positive body image and child safety.
Here’s hoping they’ll all add some extra feathers to their bows, when a brand new Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants POSSIBLY makes its way to our screens kind of soonish!
Now here’s some pics of the sisterhood in real life. Because adorable!
