Canadian-based Sweetbeets make some incredibly beautiful letterpress paper items, including cards for all occasions, gift tags and thank you notes. We first featured Sweetbeets in October 2008 and now Lisa, the woman behind Sweetbeets, has added some delightful counting posters to her offerings. I have ordered quite a few things from her in the past (and received immediate, fabulous customer service) and her gorgeous artwork combined with her skill of letterpress printing makes for some absolutely unique stationary.
The 19th century technique of letterpress printing lends itself to today’s world quite well and is especially perfect for anything kid related. The printing plate is pressed into the paper leaving an indelible impression that children can actually feel. So when learning how to count, they can feel how many is seven, not just see it. As we all know, touch is one of the most powerful mechanisms for learning.
The art has a combination of subtle, vintage pistachio-like green with vibrant orange, blue and pink and will fit into any modern nursery or child’s bedroom. Her new counting posters are 8.5 x 11 inches and everything is printed on recycled paper using rubber-based inks.
The counting posters are US$30 each and are available to order from the Sweetbeets website or her Etsy shop with delivery to Australia for US$6.95.
