That perfect piece to inspire a nursery theme, or finish off the decoration, can be excruciatingly elusive. Or it can be as easy as finding an amazing artwork and everything falls into place.
I’m a country girl, but pieces of artwork inspired by great cities from around the world are a big feature in our home. There’s nothing quite like the hustle and bustle, the smells, the sounds and the awe-inspiring architecture that can only come from the big smoke. But I bet you’ve never thought of using a cityscape as an artwork for a nursery. Too busy, not relaxing? Well, these pieces may change your mind.
They’re the creation of Natalie Brcar, who created Bricks and Paper while on maternity leave from her job in the architectural and design industry in Sydney. Natalie has always been inspired by things made from paper, and she’s used her architectural background as a basis to create these simple, yet stunning pieces of art.
The Paper-Scape series is inspired by Natalie’s experience working within the built environment, and the pieces explore shape, geometry, colour and form. The forms create a series of three silhouetted landscapes: City-Scape, Industrial-Scape and Suburban-Scape.
Each artwork is made by hand, from high quality art paper and presented on acid-free card. Each series is limited to a run of one hundred pieces, signed and numbered. An A3 size piece costs $55, while the A4 sized artworks are $35, from Bricks and Paper.
