Show us your nursery – Ella’s sweet old world vintage space

In a time where contemporary decor has become the trend, I adore the breath of fresh air a vintage space brings – and this nursery brings old world grace and charm in spades – a beautifully styled space fit for a princess. Ella’s nursery is a feast for the eyes. With a vintage theme in mind, mum Emily carefully chose the stunning mint green and ice pink rose wallpaper for the walls which such a beautiful colour palette, inspired the rest of the nursery decorating.

Emily writes of decorating Ella’s space: I thought that wallpaper from floor to ceiling might look too busy, so I went for beadboard on the lower half of the wall, painted a neutral cream. Some beautiful solid oak furniture completed the French provincial look. I especially love being able to see into Ella’s ‘wardrobe’, which is really a display cabinet with a hanging rod added. My favourite things in the room are the two little corner shelving units that my husband made for me (he is a cabinet-maker). It provides a perfect place to display some of Ella’s beautiful toys.

I do most of my shopping online, and spent a huge amount of time over several months browsing and purchasing the perfect items for the nursery (I am very fussy!). My lovely husband did most of the physical work, such as painting and wallpapering. We worked well as a team, as I have a good eye for design (and a bargain) and he has the skills to put it all together. We enjoyed it immensely, and are so proud of what we achieved. It was very special to have such a beautiful space to bring our baby home to, and Ella loves being in there.

Ella now owns quite a few things that belonged to me when I was a baby, including some toys and a much loved teddy bear lamp. Teddy required a bit of a makeover, but he is now looking pretty special, and I hope he will provide my baby girl with the same comfort he offered me for many years.

Emily we love that creating such a stunning bedroom for your sweet little girl was an enjoyable labour of love for your husband and yourself, such a superb accomplishment for you all to enjoy – and we’re sure Ella will enjoy it for many, many years to come!
