Show us your nursery – Amelie’s cosy corner of the world

Two-year-old Amelie is one lucky little lady. Her mum Carly has a knack for sourcing gorgeous bits and pieces that have made her daughter’s room so spectacular.

Amelie’s family moved into an older house, which they intend to bulldoze in the future and so her parents did not want to spend too much time and money decorating. Instead, they kept the walls white and found some terrific furnishings that can easily be transferred to Amelie’s new bedroom.

The teal bed, purchased at Bev Marks, adds a touch of vintage and and colour-wise, it’s subtle enough to go with just about any bedspread. A talented family friend made the quilted bed throws and matching cushions.

Little Amelie has a fondness for helicopters and lions, so Carly found the wall art by Printspace at the Big Design Market. And the dolls-house-cum-shoe-storage was a bargain find on eBay.

The adorable hot air balloon wall decals are from Belle and Boo on Etsy.

But the cosiest corner in Amelie’s room is her comfy little reading nook.  Working with limited space, Carly had foam cut at a local supplier and made the covers using Ikea fabric. The Ikea picture shelves double as book ends – a clever solution for a room that’s not quite wide enough for a deep bookshelf. The pom garland was originally a Christmas tree adornment that found its way to Amelie’s room because she loved it so much.

What an amazing place for bedtime stories!
