Shake, rattle and explore with the new Explore and More Roll-around rattle from Skip Hop

Baby rattles are the type of thing that we all think we’ve seen before, but some of them are more equal than others. Inevitably, those ones come from toy company Skip Hop.

Skip Hop have long been favourites of ours here at Babyology. I have a bunch of Skip Hop products at my house that are used daily, so it comes as no surprise to me that they are behind the Explore and More Roll-around rattle. So although we usually eschew plastic toys around these parts, when they’re this good, we like to make exceptions and tell you all about them!

In fact, the Explore and More rattle has just been awarded the ToyAward 2015 in the Baby & Infant Category at the prestigious Spielwarenmesse International Toy Fair in Germany. This is no small feat, as the rattle beat more than 600 products to the top prize, and a quick look at the features of this ‘simple’ baby rattle show some clever ideas.

The rattles have faces that are familiar to other critters in the Skip Hop Zoo range and they are easy to grasp, which encourages shaking and tossing. Their round bodies encourage babies to roll them around and each rattle has teethers and beads, giving babes more to chew on and explore. Another great feature is that the rattles are rubbery, which means that when they drop and bounce, they do so without too much noise (and with a baby well into the ‘throw any item on the floor to see how much noise it can make’ phase, I cannot emphasis enough how great this feature is).

What’s more, these rattles are cute to boot, and available in adorable bee, hedgehog and owl designs. At just $16 they make an awesomely affordable baby shower gift. The Skip Hop Explore and More Roll-around rattle is available at Little Styles.
