I’m still struggling to find the perfect nightlight for my baby’s nursery –
one bright enough so I can still feed and change him at night without waking
him up completely (distracted is an understatement!) but not so dim that I go
flying over the nappy bin when trying to sneak in quietly – yes, this happens
So I was delighted to find this super-cool Dimerlamp from Argentinian
design duo Carolina Galeano and Francisco Poggi (who also designed the Babybox
expandable crib and Housemade cubby house). It’s a lamp that not only does the
job you want, but looks stylish too – and hey, my little one may not appreciate
this light box’s design merits yet, but it’s me that has to sit and stare at it!
What’s cool about these little boxes is that you can
control the amount of light which spills out by opening the cube to various
stages, allowing less or more light to escape. Or as Galeano Poggi say in their
designer-speak: “You don’t turn on the
light. You liberate it.” How very PC.
But joking aside, I think I may have
found the perfect lighting solution. Okay, so you can probably use a regular
dimmer switch but it wouldn’t look nearly as groovy now would it? Let’s hope these actually make it into production.
