School holiday activities for kids in Adelaide

Angelina Ballerina's Big Audition

If you’re in Adelaide during the school holidays this summer, here’s some activities available in the city and surrounding areas guaranteed to keep the kids happy.

Angelina Ballerina

Be quick to grab tickets to see everyone’s favourite dancing mouse, Angelina Ballerina, in Angelina Ballerina’s Big Audition. Taking over the Dunstan Playhouse stage at Adelaide Festival Centre from January 17 – 21 2012, this is a fantastic opportunity to introduce little ones to the magic of ballet through the talented Royal New Zealand Ballet crew. Tickets are priced from $26 and available through BASS.

Active Art Studios

If it’s a more hands on activity you’re after, perhaps some craft might while away some time. Active Art Studios are holding workshops throughout January for kids involving all things from paper sculpture, printmaking, painting and jewellery making. Suitable for children from age five and up. Details on courses can be found at Active Art Studios.

Chocolate School

I think we’d all be hard pressed to find a kid who didn’t like chocolate. So naturally who wouldn’t love to spend two hours learning chocolate making techniques and getting messy making gorgeous edible treats? Current dates of this workshop are for 14 and 20 January and will cost $59. Booking details can be found at Adelaide Chocolate School.

Moonlight Cinema

A movie is a treat, but seeing a movie out in the fresh air gives movie viewing a whole new perspective. Ford Focus Moonlight Cinema is screening movies all through December and January including G rated The Muppets, Alvin and The Chipmunks and Arthur Christmas. Take advantage of warm balmy nights, but don’t forget your insect repellent! Ticket and program information head on over to Ford Focus Moonlight Cinema.

More ideas

There are plenty of other attractions that are perfect for visiting with children and are running holiday events such as and including Adelaide Aquatic Centre, Adelaide Zoo, South Australian Museum and if you’re looking a little further a field, Beerenberg Strawberry Farm is always a hit for a relaxing day trip.

Happy holidays to everyone and please let us know of other interesting things for kids that are happening during the summer!
