Ryan Reynold’s refreshing stance on parenting makes mums melt and LOL

Ryan Reynolds is one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, but he proves he’s just like the rest of us with this refreshingly honest and hilarious interview and video on being a new dad.

Come and see what’s its really like in Ryan and Blake Lively’s household as the beautiful couple tackle late night nappy changes, baby wearing and the dreaded Ikea cot installation.

Ever since Ryan Reynolds became a father to baby girl James eight months ago, mums everywhere cannot get enough. After all, the only thing sexier than Ryan Reynolds walking the street is Ryan Reynolds walking the street with an adorable infant on his chest.

So when GQ released a video and interview with the Canadian dad, we jumped at the chance to take a peak.

In the video, which is part of the behind-the-scenes look at the shoot, Ryan struggles with something all parents know too well – assembling an IKEA cot.

Ryan goes through the natural stages of cot assembly, from confusion to anger, from acceptance to defeat as he attempts to read the instructions and gain unhelpful advice from the sales representative. Eventually Ryan succumbs to exhaustion, gets out the duct tape and opens a beer (or five).

“Ikea – Swedish for F**k you.” We feel your pain Ryan. Cheers.

And while he may not be the hands-on type when it comes to cot installation, he certainly is a hands-on (and hilarious) father. Ryan tells GQ, that ever since becoming a father, he’s “learned that an inordinate amount of clichés are completely true. Like, there is this kid here that I would walk through fire for. Or maybe not fire. Like, a very hot pavement, I’d walk through. A shag rug.”

Although there have been a few rough patches in the celebrity parenthood journey so far, including a recent falling out with a friend who posted photos of baby James online and a triad of angry mummies who attacked Ryan via social media for the way he wore baby James, all in all, Ryan seems to wear his new role very well.

“I genuinely like it. I like being a father. I like having a daughter. I would like to have more kids. You know, it seems to suit me pretty well.”

“[It’s] not because I have a nanny or something like that,” he adds. “It’s just us right now, and I love it.”

Being a dad has also made him respect his own parents more, not to mention the parents around him.  “Once you have a kid, you just think, like, ‘I can’t believe that another person did all this shit for me, that I’m doing for this person right now!’ Like, that somebody woke up in the middle of the night this many times just to wipe my ass. It’s just profound to me.”

Blake Lively and baby James are two of the luckiest ladies on the planet, even if Ryan isn’t a fan of Ikea.
