Actors Rose Byrne and Bobby Cannavale have just revealed they’re expecting their second child together, a little brother or sister for the couple’s adorable 18-month-old son, Rocco.
“A little tired”
Rose spilled the baby beans in a recent interview with David Jones’ magazine Jones, which is kind of out of character for her. The star chose not to confirm her first pregnancy officially, giving birth to Rocco in February last year.
Rose’s partner, Boardwalk Empire and Nurse Jackie star Bobby Cannavale has a 22-year-old son, Jake, from his previous marriage to Jenny Lumet. Jake is no doubt excited about getting a fresh baby sibling too!
“I’m a little tired but feeling good… You always get a little bit more attention when you’re pregnant, which is fabulous,” Rose – who has starred in Damages and Bridesmaids – told Jones Magazine.
Rose and Bobby began dating in 2012, a couple of years after her long-term relationship with actor, writer and director Brendan Cowell ended.
On life with Bobby she says it’s a bit of a work in progress, due to some down-to-earth roots:
“To be honest, I’m not naturally that much of a romantic person—Australians don’t like making a fuss,” Rose told Elle Canada in 2014.
“I’m trying to get better at romance.”
Life with “The Rock” and Rose
While Rose is generally very private about her kiddo, partner Bobby is the opposite, sharing heaps of cute and candid pics of Rocco aka “The Rock” on his Instagram account.
There are also plenty of images of Rose over there too, with the ones shot recently in sunny Santorini making us especially jelly (as we stare out at the winter sleet and gloom and clutch our cardigans tighter! Sob!)
Rose was recently spotted in her home town at Sydney Airport, wheeling an exhausted and crying Rocco in his pram after a long-haul flight. The flying while pregnant while toting a toddler is no mean feat and we’re certain the stoic look on her face conceals some internal screaming and an (unquenchable) thirst for a bracing glass of wine.
“Nothing can prepare you for it”
When asked if having a baby has affected her jetsetting life, Rose told Qantas’ Travel Insider: “It can’t not. Rocco’s still little, though, and a good sport. You can pack him up and take him with you. I assume it becomes more challenging later.”
(Note that this “good sport” interview happened before screaming toddler at airport pic was captured!)
On motherhood, Rose said to excpect the unexpected.
“I don’t think anything can really prepare you for it – even people telling you that nothing can prepare you for it.”
The actor-mum has been spending quite a lot of time in Sydney recently because she’s been working on the Peter Rabbit movie – with Margot Robbie and James Corden. Rose said the Beatrix Potter kid’s movie is “one for Rocco”, The Daily Telegraph reports.
We’re excited to catch a glimpse of Peter Rabbit – and look forward to sneaking a peek at their new baby, when they’re ready to share, too!
