Rock-a-bye baby…. and mummy

There comes a point in the life of every parent with a newborn (and it’s usually around 3am) when you feel so sleep-deprived that the suggestion of a cradle meets rocking chair that soothes bub to sleep for a mere €560 seems like a fabulous bargain.

If you’re reading this at 3am you may already be reaching for the credit card, marvelling at the beauty of 24 hour online shopping and the fact that this little gem will be winging its way to you within 12 hours. But before you hit the checkout, read this review and hit all the links so that at the very least you can say you’ve done your due diligence!

Re-produkte is a Berlin-based design team that create furniture that evolves with the needs of a growing child. The Re-set pieces – a rocking cradle, rocking horse and rocking chair – combine ingenuity, comfort, function and elegant design.

The cradle, chair and rocking horse can be used separately or strapped together with custom leather straps for mutual parent and child rocking benefit. The thought of being able to rock your baby (and perhaps yourself) to sleep easily and comfortably, without getting ‘dead arm’ sounds like bliss. It’s been more than a year since I’ve had to do serious stints with a baby in the middle of the night but I’ve not forgotten and know this cradle and chair would have been a godsend.

Once your baby has outgrown the cradle, the frame can be re-fitted with the rocking horse saddle for independent toddler fun (see below). The cradle itself can be re-employed as a toy basket and of course the rocking chair will keep on rockin’.

The Re-set collection (chair, cradle and rocking horse saddle) is €560 and is available from Kids Love Design.
