Retrotastic planes and cars

The humble and well loved ride-on toy. Or in this case, the not-so-humble but uber cool ride-on toy. “Mummy, I want THAT plane!” were the words I heard from my daughter as she eyed off the planes and cars on my computer screen when I first started writing this. It then took me a few minutes to explain to her that the plane was not actually here in our house and she would just have to make do with her many ride-on toys already cluttering up our verandah.

Children adore any sort of toy they can ride on, put their feet to ground, and pedal like a Flintstone. These sensational toys are made by a company called Airflow Collectibles and they are nothing short of remarkable. Reminding me of what toys were probably like over fifty years ago, they’re made from the finest materials including: all metal construction, lead-free powder-coated paint, rubber tyres, padded seats and moving features (the propeller moves on the planes when your little one pedals). They are almost miniature versions of the real deal!

Ranging in price from US$319 to US$517 from Amazon, they aren’t cheapies (and you may be tempted to have it sit like a collectible), but these ride-ons are made for play. Judging by my daughter’s reaction, they’re sure to be a big hit.
