Here’s a young toy designer who takes the familiar and turns it into something just a little bit special.
Noga Ravin clearly has an eye for what the everyday could be, not just what it is at the moment. A quick look around her Etsy shop reveals all manner of toys which look like they could have started life in a totally different form – a snuggly old shirt, some pieces of leftover felt, a spool of stretchy and soft fabric yarn. Now though, they’ve been reimagined into the kinds of toys that young children just want to play with again and again.
All kinds of interesting things pop up in Ravin’s shop, according to what takes her fancy – but there are some regulars: rattles, soft toys and bags are always around. My favourites far and away are the Rosso rabbits (at bottom), which look like a mashup of a soft toy and a comfy pile of washing! They’re enormous (about a metre long) with long legs for tucking up or tying in a knot and wrapping around yourself.
You can pick up her products at her Etsy store, Noga Ravin. Rosso the rabbit (in lots of different colour combos) can be yours for $38, with shipping available all the way from Poland to Australia.
