Pushing buttons

What happens when you combine hair necessities like ties and clips with very cool retro fabrics swathed around big buttons? The answer is a very happy girl.

I don’t think girls (or women for that matter) can get enough of hair accessories. My own daughter has an entire box dedicated to all things hair related. You name it, she’s got it and she hasn’t even got a whole lot of hair. Yet she still wants to wear a pretty clip to gently pull back her fringe every day.

Australian company Dan300 has been in the business of creating beautiful handmade textile driven products since 1999. Not just hair clips and ties but also an array of button accessories (including the cool fully adjustable button rings above), cards, cushions and women’s fashion. All of it centres around unique, one of a kind fabrics. I think the green and blue tree cushion using original 60s fabric pictured below would be sublime in the kids room.

The offerings are divided into the era of the vintage fabrics. There is the ‘Retro’ 50s, the ‘Mod’ 60s – this being my fave, ‘Vintage Chic’ inspired by art deco and ‘Kiji’ using Japanese fabrics. Dan300 also caters for us adults in the form of chic button brooches, earrings and even cufflinks.

To buy Dan300 hair accessories from $9.95 visit Little Pinwheel, a lovely new online shop focusing on Australian designers such as Three Little Trees, Sudo, Mill & Mia and Polka, with more to come.

You can purchase the cushions or a multitude of other products direct from the Dan300 website.
