Prince William and Duchess Kate are expecting their third child

William and Kate

The Duchess very recently joked about having more babies and it seems she meant what she said!  News just in from Kensington Palace confirms that Prince William and the Duchess Kate are INDEED expecting baby number three, a sibling for 4-year-old Prince George and 2-year-old Princess Charlotte.

Third time’s a charm!

It appears that poor Kate is again suffering from debilitating Hyperemesis Gravidarum.  Today she cancelled some events which tipped the press off to the exciting – though nausea-inducing – news.

“The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child,” Kensington Palace tweeted.

A more formal statement from Kensington Palace officials reads as follows:

Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to announce that The Duchess of Cambridge is expecting their third child.

The Queen and members of both families are delighted with the news.

As with her previous two pregnancies, The Duchess is suffering from Hyperemesis Gravidarum.

The Duchess will no longer carry out her planned engagement at the Hornsey Road Children’s Centre in London today, and is being cared for at Kensington Palace.

A busy week

This news comes during a busy week for the young Royals.

They marked the 20th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death last week and on Thursday young Prince George will start school for the very first time.

Those with eagle eyes will have noticed Kate looking quite peaky of late, hand hovering over belly. It would seem that she’s been trying to keep a lid on her pregnancy, whilst feeling utterly, utterly wretched. Here’s hoping she gets plenty of rest and manages to avoid hospitalisation for Hyperemesis Gravidarum this time, as happened in her first pregnancy.

The condition also forced the unusually early announcement of her second pregnancy with Charlotte. We suspect this rushed reveal may indicate Kate is in her first trimester still, yet unable to keep things quiet any longer due to her ill-health.

We hope she feels much better very, very soon and look forward to hearing more from the Palace, as details come to hand.
