Prince George played a very, very cute part in his school Christmas play

Prince George

It’s un-baaaa-lievable, really. Four-year-old Prince George is settling into life at school, and despite being unconvinced that it’s worth fronting up every day he DID throw himself into one particular task-at-hand – the nativity play.

“It was funny”

William, and a pregnant Duchess Kate, were attending a summit at the BBC when they spilled the adorable beans on George’s dramatic escapades.

The royal couple sat in on a focus group the broadcaster ran, with a group of chatty school kids. They spoke to the kids about Christmas plans, and William revealed young George had delightfully succumbed to the festive spirit, appearing on stage in his school’s production. He said it was a joy to behold.

“I went to my boy’s nativity play. It was funny,” William told the kids, explaining the youngest prince had a very important role indeed … “He was a sheep!”

As we all know sheep, trees, donkeys and the like are very important roles in these kinds of things. We imagine Kate and William were brimming with pride.

“The hands of our children”

William later shifted gears, addressing the summit on the impact of digital life on children, noting that the internet provides opportunities, but also challenges. We must move forward with caution, to protect our children, he suggested.

“Parents like Catherine and me are raising the first generation of digitally-immersed children – and this gives us many reasons to be optimistic about the impact of technology on childhood,” William told the assembled delegates.

“What we cannot do, however, is pretend that the impact of digital technology is all positive or, indeed, even understood.”

“We have put the most powerful information technology in human history into the hands of our children – yet we do not yet understand its impact on adults, let alone the very young.”

“We can be hopeful about the future of our society when we all know that protecting the essence of childhood remains our collective and urgent priority,” the Prince said.

A simple wish

George and his little sister, two-year-old Princess Charlotte, are now old enough to appreciate all the tradition and excitement of Christmas, with George putting just ONE very special thing on his wishlist this year.

His dad, Prince William, was lucky enough to hand deliver the list to Father Christmas on a recent visit to Helsinki, and it offered us all a glimpse into how George ticks.

“I had to give you this letter,” he told the jolly gent, handing over the precious note. “He hasn’t written down many requests, so I think one request is probably okay.”

The request was for a police car, which we’d be hoping he finds under his tree on the big day, due to sweetly asking for only one item and thus deserving a much-hoped-for reward.

On the naughty or nice categorisation, William told a nodding Santa that “he’s been a nice boy, a nice boy.”
