She’s the golden girl of the surf with a life many might envy – two gorgeous daughters and a sportstar husband to match. But former ironwoman Candice Warner this week revealed she’s just like the rest of us – a mum with a post-baby muffin top. And we love her for it.
Candice, a model, former ironwoman and wife to Australian cricketer David Warner, this week shared she was struggling to lose the 25kg she put on with daughter Indi, born in January.
“Flicking through Instagram, you are seeing women who have just had babies and have their abs back, or are back in their size-six bikini within weeks,” Candice tells The Daily Telegraph.
“That’s not me. A few weeks post-birth, I am the one still in the size-14 pants with a muffin-top.”
Candice says there is too much pressure for mothers to be picture perfect, made more difficult by celebrity mums posting less than realistic images on social media.
“You have days where your kids aren’t great and sometimes you want to lock yourself in the kitchen cupboard,” she says.
“But most of the time the girls are really great and I really love being a mum.”
Candice certainly has a point. Just think, while you’re looking at what another mum has or is doing, what beautiful and genuine moments of your own are you letting slip away?
