Pregnant pause: Heart-stopping footage shows a very active baby on board

Melissa Rycroft

The pitter-patter of little feet was exposed for what it is – a sort of undulating break-dance – when this mum shared footage of her in-utero baby stretching his legs inside her belly.

Bust a move

American TV presenter, Melissa Rycroft Strickland, shared this video of her growing bub a while ago on Instagram, and it’s resurfaced again recently, thanks to its general awesomeness.

It’s fair to say that the vision will have you holding your breath and possibly crossing your legs/taking a double dose of birth control pills*, in an effort to avoid these inner gymnastics. The clip shows Melissa “relaxing” on the couch, while her baby, Cayson Jack, makes himself right at home. In her belly. Gulp.

It appears Cayson’s quite the athlete, even though he’s still tucked safely inside his mum. He’s keen to stretch his limbs and make the most of the space on hand. In fact, the clip shows Cayson busting out the kind of moves previously only seen in the Soul Train line in 1973.

“It’s an alien!”

Melissa has two other children, Ava Grace, born in February 2011 and Beckett Thomas, born in April 2014, but it was her youngest child Cayson’s antics that had her followers on tenterhooks, and keen to chat about his moves. Also his knees. And his feet and tiny toes and rolling torso too, to be clear.

“It’s an alien aaaaaaaaa!!! That is so sweet that you shared this with us,” one commenter posted, mirroring the complicated thoughts of many.

“I only had one baby but I remember that feeling so well! I loved feeling her move around! I would push a little and she would pull back/move again. She never hurt me,” another recalled.

“So glad you posted this. Makes me remember those days. The whole process of growing a human is such a miracle from God,” a follower wrote.

“Although it looks painful it is a beautiful thing,” a further follower summed up.

Beautiful indeed. We’re certain any woman who has carried a baby will be having some very familiar feels right about now!
