Playtime Paris 2012 – maternity fashions

The big news at Playtime Paris? All the seriously fab maternity fashion.

With more than fifty maternity exhibitors included in Playtime Paris 2012, expectant mothers are spoilt for choice.

There’s a handful that I’m excited about. First up, Italian label Attesa (above and at top). Their 2012 Fall/Winter collection channels the very best of the eighties in a thoroughly modern way – think ski pants, neutral colours teamed with chambray blue and the odd ruffle. It all adds up to a stunning collection.

Also from Italy is Pietro Brunelli Maternity. Noteworthy is the fact that this label is the first maternity-wear to be included at Milan Fashion Week. The collection is dominated by fine, figure-hugging knits. Is it just me or do you think the fashion photographer was channelling Robert Palmer’s classic song, Simply Irresistible?!

I think my favourite collection is from Dutch design duo, Queen Mum (above and below). When I was pregnant, I didn’t want my maternity wardrobe to stray too far from the style I ordinarily wore – not always possible if your choice is limited. I wish I’d had access to Queen Mum – the collections comprise simple pieces, layers and pops of colour. It’s sophisticated yet still casual.

It’s all about coats in jewel-tones at high-fashion French design house Davai. For those not bold enough to sport the red cape, there is also kimono-inspired jackets, a traditional trench and hooded coats.

Dutch label, Love 2 Wait, is focused on perfectly-fitting maternity denim and fashion with a grunge- edge. The look is modern, young and casual (shown above and below).

French label Sugar Town (above) offers both maternity and nursing wear for the “urban pregnant woman” – I know it’s a brave fashion statement to wear a playsuit but isn’t Sugar Town’s simple design adorable?! Also check out 1 et 1 Font 3 – love those green jeans (below)!

For those needing a working wardrobe, turn to Slacks & Co. who offer clean-cut tailoring, smartly-styled maternity basics and a handful of fashion-forward pieces each season. The gold evening pants are incredible (shown at bottom).

Lastly, a special mention for Fab 9 who offer a range of maternity fashion tights – we all know it’s the little things that can make you feel dressed up.

Hope you’ve enjoyed this huge maternity fashion round-up!
