While the days shorten on the other side of the world and a distinct chill enters the air, we Aussies begin our summer. Hear that? That’s the sound of Antipodean evil laughter.
Between the beaches, lovely warm weather, outdoor food festivals, and all the parks your heart could ever desire, we’ve got it pretty good. The only thing that makes me a tiny bit jealous of the Northern Hemisphere is all the fabulous fall/winter collections, like the latest from Spanish label, Pili Carrera.
Pili Carrera makes classic, smart clothes for babies and children, and the company has been designing and manufacturing in Spain since 1963. With such a long history, they’ve had a lot of experience designing luxurious children’s clothes, and it shows. The designs are timeless, without a hint of trendiness, and incidentally are a wardrobe favourite of three little Dutch princesses.
The colours for the fall/winter collection are lovely neutrals: khaki, white, navy, grey, dark green and red, and the only patterns are Liberty prints, florals and checks.
Lots of kids clothes are made for playing, but few are made for special occasions: birthday parties, Christmas, weddings… coronations. Pili Carrera reminds us of the art of getting dressed, and that clothes aren’t just functional, they’re meant to be beautiful too.
Just because the seasons are opposite, doesn’t mean you can’t stock up on this collection now. But if you can’t wait to get your kids into some of Pili Carrera’s designs, the spring/summer collection is on sale. Our favourite pieces are the colourful chino shorts for boys and the floral turquoise dresses with pretty crinolines for girls.
Sadly shipping to Australia isn’t available, but we’ll keep you updated on Australian stockists. In the meantime, perhaps a trip to Spain is in order.
