What happens when a stylist, artist, photographer and mother turns her hand to making kids’ art? Pure harmony, that’s what.
After a long career in photographic styling it’s only natural that Julz Beresford turned her eye towards home decoration. She sources, paints or makes the items in each artwork, then composes the shot and snaps away. The end result is quaint and so perfect for the nursery wall.
Reminiscent of yesteryear fabric patterns is Sleepover at Nanny and Pa’s (below left). It expresses joyful memories from Julz’s own childhood, inspired by her grandparents’ attentiveness and their permission to eat sweets. One of six prints in The Seamstress collection, each has a soft feminine feel thanks to dresses made by Julz and dainty patterns.
The Poppies Pink Flowers print (below right) has a background of pink painted polka-dots that match the pretty coat hanger. Julz’s firm eye has ensures every stray thread is cut, every crease ironed and all colours matched for a work that breathes order and balance – the things we crave as busy mothers.
The well composed image shown above is called Skittles Game Four. This and other artworks by Julz Beresford are available at Kindergallery for $115. For more harmonious decor ideas, see our post on the very French Airdeje Boutique.
