I’ll admit to being somewhat biased because I have my own Penelope, but if you are yet to discover the world of Penelope Peapod, be prepared for the epitome of cute.
Penelope Peapod is a baby doll that comes with a very sweet wicker handbag that turns into a cradle – she is perfect, portable fun for little girls that like to carry a bag and a toy at the same time.
You might remember a similar concept at craft markets when you were little. I seem to recall crochet and margarine container creations with a doll that was never quite the right scale to fit the cradle – they were fun, but in no way as pretty as Penelope Peapod’s fine wicker basket, trimmed with pastel gingham or floral Liberty prints.
Penelope Peapod’s world recently expanded with the addition of a change table, a clothes rail, a highchair and a rocker. The details on all the pieces are beautiful, from the tiny gingham cushions on the highchair to the clothes hangers on the clothes rail (which includes four outfits). I particularly like the clothing as it is very simple and perfect for little fingers learning how to dress a doll.
My daughter is still a little too young for all the Penelope Peapod accessories (although they are ready and waiting) but at nearly two years old, she already appreciates the handbag element.
Penelope Peapod and her accessories are available in Australia from Young Things. Penelope ranges from $49.95 – $55.00 and the accessories range from $30-$50.
