Happy Australia Day! We’re celebrating with a look back at our ten favourite Australian posts from the past year. So grab a lamington or a slice of pav, pull on your favourite pair of thongs and come take a look at our favourite Aussie brands, designers and products.
Aussie kids are amongst the coolest on earth, so when it comes to cuddly toys, we love, love, love Cool Koala from Make Me Iconic. Even better, this cuddly bundle of cuteness is currently on sale for $20. And, as you all know, there’s nothing more Australian than nabbing a bargain!
Pair your koala with an equally cool and equally cuddly cockatoo designed right here in Australia by Lah Deh Dah Kids, makers of the cutest collection of crocheted toys you’re ever likely to see.
We’ve shown you a stack of new Australian linen and bedding designers in recent months, but one of our favourites has to be Sack Me for their bright, fun and supremely soft bedding for babies and kids.
You can’t have a ridgey didge nursery without the right accessories and they don’t come more true blue than this Australiana nursery mobile from Byrne Woodware. Made from Tasmanian oak, it has all the animal favourites, including wombats, kangaroos and koalas.
Then pay homage to the Aussie tradition of mateship and dress up the rest of your nursery space at the same time with this brill quote wall decal by Sydney company Wondermade. There’s a whole host of fun quote decals to choose from and you’ll find them all in our Wondermade post.
There’s plenty of Australian designers kicking goals in children’s fashions – Oishi-m, Rock Your Baby and Eeni Meeni are among our personal favourites and appear on Babyology often – but we were terribly excited to introduce you all for the first time to the incredible stylings of Aussie brand Petit De Nimes.
For bubbas, we’re giving a big ol’ Aussie thumbs up to Huxbaby, an organic and decidedly hip unisex label for tots that burst onto the local scene with urban flair and aplomb. It’s Australian fashion for city tots and we like it.
Now teepees might not be strictly Australian, but when they’re designed and made by one of our favourite homegrown design studios, that’s good enough for us! We showed you this beauty from Australia’s Supertrooper Studio a few months back, and have also treated you to their Australian city-themed art prints and cushions in the past.
If ever a company captured the quintessential Aussie spirit of fun and frivolity, it’s Down to the Woods. We all went gaga for their watermelon rug and there’s plenty more marvels where that came from.
Finally, share our nation’s amazing fauna and flora with the kids via this incredible book – The Amazing A to Z Thing, with its beautiful artwork from Aboriginal artist Bronwyn Bancroft.
We hope you enjoyed our best-of-Aussie post. Take a look through our archives for more cool Australiana as well as other fashions and products from Australian designers. And have a great Australia Day!
